At eighty one years of age, the last of the Drifting Cowboys
was still pleasing audiences of all ages at shows across the country. Don Helms is best known by the public
for his recordings with Hank Williams, and best known by his peers as an
inspiration on both the musical and personal level. His recently released
book, "Settin' the Woods on Fire" which was co-authored with
Dale Vinicur, tells the story of this remarkable force in the country
music industry. Included are interesting highlights about many people in
and out of the music business. Don Helms passed away on the night of
August 10, 2008. He will never be forgotten.
